Charles Square 5 / Hoxton, London

A Georgian building redesigned by our design studio to house 5 apartments that seamlessly blend heritage and modernity for a contemporary lifestyle.

Located on the upper floor of Charles Square, Flat 5 is a thoughtfully designed apartment of approximately 58.5 sq m, showcasing the building’s historic character with a contemporary finish. The apartment’s main space combines living, dining, and kitchen areas in a single, open-plan layout, maximising light and volume. Exposed beams and high ceilings create a sense of drama, while the sleek Rotpunkt kitchen provides a modern, functional touch.

A separate bedroom and bathroom are discreetly arranged off the main space, maintaining privacy without compromising the apartment’s airy, open feel. Flat 5 exemplifies the balance between heritage and modernity that defines the entire building, an intimate yet striking home in the heart of Hoxton.

The building itself, dating back to the 1720s, has transitioned through multiple identities, from residence to courthouse and political headquarters, before its careful transformation into five apartments by Marta Nowicka. The renovation preserves key Georgian elements while introducing a considered modern material palette, resulting in a home that is both rooted in history and designed for contemporary living.
