The Arctic Hideaway / Gildeskål, Norway

This cluster of modern cabins is an absolute must destination found deep in the Arctic Circle and promises incredible views of the ocean and sightings of the local wildlife.

Located in Sørværet, Norway, The Arctic hideaway is the perfect stay for those searching for the Northern Lights. This cluster of modernist cabins by local architecture firms Rintala Eggertsson Architects and TYIN Tegnestue quickly became a "must" both for its unique location and site-specific design. Deep into the Arctic Circle, the remote island promises incredible views of the ocean and even sightings of local wildlife, such as otters, whales and sea eagles.

Respect for the environment is apparent everywhere here, from the raised structures to the organization of the small volumes, making sure that the human impact on the natural landscape is minimal. Luckily, that does not come at the expense of modern comforts as guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, living spaces, bathrooms, and even a sauna, and a concert room. The design encourages guests to spend time outdoors or in the common areas, to allow everyone to interact and share experiences while they embark on this journey together while it also creates a sense of community which is absolutely essential in extreme weather conditions such as these.
